Plastic Litter in the Adriatic Basin Report

A recent report published by our Polytechnic University of Marche Department of Life and Environmental Sciences partners entitled ‘Plastic Litter in the Adriatic Basin’ is now available online!

Most of the studies on plastic pollution conducted to date in Mediterranean waters, have been focusing on beach litter with fewer examples addressing the abundance and distribution of floating macro- and mega-debris. Moreover, there has been a geographic bias evident, with most of the research being carried out in the Western Mediterranean Sea. This report presents a comprehensive overview of research papers investigating plastic pollution in the Mediterranean Sea with a focus on the Adriatic Basin, and highlights the diversity of material identified from associated sampling activities.
